Rough Oily Skin

Rough Oily Skin

Rough Oily Skin

I have rough, oily skin and am wondering what I can do about it. I'm dark skinned, actually dark brown, Asian.

I live in Malaysia which is extremely hot here.
I have been having oily, rough (black heads too!) and slightly yellow skin for four months now around my nose and above my upper lip (where the moustache area is).

It is also dark above my upper lip.

When I'm not wearing moisturizer the skin looks extremely dry and dehydrated and even looks uneven. But when I do use moisturizer the skin looks oily, rough and slightly yellow.

I've been using AHA and BHA's for more than a month now and I don't see a difference.

I've also been using bio oil. I'm not sure if it is helping or not.

What type of skin is this? Why is this happening and what can I do about it? Have I been doing something wrong?

Please do help. I'm 16 and I would love any other comments on this.

Please and thank you.

10 years experience with acne
by: Anonymous

Hi, I had acne and very oily skin and other areas I have dry skin since I was 14 years old.

Now I'm 26 and my skin has improved a lot after
using Cosmoderm. I'm using the Cosmoderm scrub for dry skin and the Cosmoderm cleanser for oily skin. I mixed it.
You can find the Cosmoderm product at any pharmacy and the price is really reasonable. I also using sunblock with high SPF.
I am also going to a Medispa for Silkpeel therapy but it quite expensive.

This is my 10 years' experience with acne.

Finally, the ugly duckling has become better
even though I don't have flawless as other girls, but I'm really grateful that my skin has improved so much.

Rough Oily Skin Problems
by: Sue

First of all, my heart goes out to you! I remember being a teen with horrible acne with very dry, bright red scaly patches on my skin. I wanted to hide all the time.

I wish I had a medical background so I could offer you some advice but unfortunately I don't. The discoloring of your skin seems like a rather significant symptom that would be best addressed by a consult with a Dermatologist.

For the time being, try using only one chemical exfoliant. Use just the BHA for a few weeks rather than both a AHA and BHA together.

Have you tried a mild scrub to help even out the roughness of your skin? You can even make your own by adding a scoop of sugar with some milk which would act as a very mild cleanser as well.

For your moisturizer, try using virgin coconut oil. My boys use that for their dry skin because it absorbs so well (it doesn't make your skin look slick and oily) and it is light enough so it doesn't clog the pores and promote pimples.

Let us know how it works. . .

But please do go see a Doctor for medical advice.

My Best,

Sue
