Thank you for sharing Charlotte!

Of course, you can always infuse the milk with any number of rejuvenating ingredients such as fresh herbs or rose hips to enhance the anti-aging effects of the toner recipe.

Charlotte is an enthusiastic natural skin care fan who explains that milk and many dairy products provide a wonderful basis for many organic facial treatment recipes.

Why?

Because milk, yogurt, cream (to name a few) contain lactic acid.

These dairy products are considered to be wonderful yet gentle skin rejuvenators.

Lactic acid has been used to benefit the skin since ancient times explains Charlotte.   As one of the gentlest acids, lactic acid works as an exfoliation and improves skin tone and texture. It helps remove dead skin cells, dirt, and acne causing bacteria to provide a soft and supple glow. In addition, the acid in dairy products can work to improve firmness and texture by promoting hydration and retaining moisture.

Charlotte says her milk toner recipe is as quick and easy as it gets.

Cleansing Facial Toner

  • 1 cup of whole milk

  • 1/8 cup fresh rosemary

  • 1 passion fruit roughly chopped

  • Combine all of the ingredients in a saucepan and simmer on medium low for 15 minutes

  • Let the mixture cool completely

  • Strain into a clean container

Saturate a cotton ball and using an upwards sweeping motion with light pressure to clean the surface of the skin.

The lactic acid in the milk gently exfoliates while it cleanses while the passion fruit revitalizes cell regeneration and collagen production.

Charlotte uses the milk cleansing toner every morning and has found it to be an excellent substitute for the toll that harsh soaps have on dry, sensitive skin.

Fun Fact:

The anti-aging properties of passion fruit:
The vitamins A and C along with other antioxidants in passion fruit work to repair free radicals and slow down the effects of aging on the skin. They also preserve collagen and elastin which are important for keeping the skin young-looking, healthy and firm.

Passion fruit is used in OTC skin care products for its moisturizing properties, ability to protect the skin from environmental factors, and is an anti-inflammatory.
