Love the Skin You’re In. . . . With Antioxidants!Antioxidants serve a vital function in the treatment of aging skin concerns. Not only do antioxidants work to heal and repair the skin they also work to prevent future damage. I can hear you all asking yourselves how the heck do they do all- that so here's a quick technical explanation:
Free radicals are atoms with unpaired electrons which viciously attack healthy cells causing their deterioration. Free radicals feast on cells that become weakened due to over-exposure to the sun, environmental conditions and other factors leading to premature aging and a myriad of skin symptoms such as age spots, wrinkles and loss of collagen leading to a lack of skin firmness. Antioxidants come to the rescue by neutralizing and destroying free radicals, strengthening existing cells and maintaining the overall health of the skin which preserves the ever important collagen and elastin; keeping the skin healthier, younger and more vibrant in appearance. Anti-aging skin care products that include clinically proven antioxidants improve the health of skin cells to reduce wrinkles, firm sagging skin and diminish age spots. Look for rejuvenation treatments that include one or more of the following antioxidants:
Tip: Try to avoid anti-aging treatments that include artificial fragrances and chemical substances such as alcohol, phenol carbolic acid, parabens, and triclosans. Making your own homemade skin care treatments, even a few times a week using fresh ingredients is another great way to “feed” your skin potent antioxidants. Not only will your skin benefit from a range of essential nutrients but natural ingredients provide your skin cells with antioxidants at the peak of their potency. (Psst. . . There isn’t any reason that you can’t use both over-the-counter rejuvenation products right along side of your own homemade treatments.) Note: Try the free eCourse on "How to Start Your Own Natural Skin Care Routine" to learn how to use the ingredients right in own pantry with potent anti-aging properties to make your own facial rejuvenation treatments: DIY Natural Skin Care Routine The natural ingredients loaded with the most powerful antioxidants are generally found in fruits, vegetables and nuts. Typically, the natural ingredients with dark coloring like pomegranates, berries, oranges, tomatoes, beets, carrots and sweet potatoes provide the richest sources of antioxidants.
Do You Have Acne Cosmetica?
Are you kidding? Acne cosmetica? Honest! Acne cosmetica is a specific medically defined condition for those that have a sensitivity to foundations, cosmetics, certain skin creams and even hair products that drift onto facial skin. The result triggers acne outbreaks. Go figure! With a plan you can eliminate acne right from the source while using effective acne treatments! Obviously, the best way to determine if your skin is responding to your cosmetics with acne outbreaks is to eliminate the potential culprits. This may be difficult for some who feel naked without their foundation or blusher but it will definitely help you identify the source that is causing the outbreaks. Be brave! It will be worth the effort in the long run. Start by eliminating all, (yes, everything), products that you use on your face and hair. Keep your skin clean and product free for at least a week. Then make a mental note: Is there a distinct difference in your acne? Slowly start adding one product at a time while carefully monitoring the reaction of your skin. You will be able to quickly isolate which one is causing your skin to react when you experience an eruption with the reoccurrence of acne.
Chocolate Facial Love-Fest!This quick and easy chocolate facial recipe can be adapted in a qazillion different ways. As an exceptionally rich source of antioxidants, chocolate provides your skin with natural age fighting nutrients. The combination of chocolate, coconut oil and honey stimulates cell repair, promotes the regeneration of new cells and also has significant emollient properties to soften and condition even the most dry, sensitive skin types. Hosting a chocolate facial-fest is a wonderful way to gather up all your friends, power-up the chocolate fountain or fondue pot and have a decadently wonderful chocolate facial spa party. (Your skin will love you!) Note: This recipe makes enough for a crowd so reduce the amounts if you are making this recipe just for yourself. . . :-) Moisturizing Chocolate Facial Mask
I like using a small foam paintbrush to apply the chocolate facial. . . (No matter what you do though, this is a very messy but yummy recipe!) Allow to set for up to 20 minutes. Rinse well with warm water. You can also add a teaspoon of granulated sugar to a palmful of the chocolate facial mixture to create a chocolate scrub when rinsing the mixture off your face. Let your friends experiment making other natural skin care recipes. . . (The Grandma Rose Skin Care recipe or the Princess and the Tea would be a great finale after the chocolate facial mask!)
