Honey Skin Care

Honey and skin care is a beautiful combination! God has given us lots of natural resources to benefit us. Every resource can be used for many purposes. Honey is one of them.

Honey is not only good for our body if it is consumed as a food but it is very beneficial if you use it as a skin care product. Honey not only works for caring for everyday skin conditions, it is also used as a treatment for various skin problems.

Due to its qualities honey is widely used in different skin care products. It is used as a skin care product since centuries. Cleopatra used honey and milk for her bath to keep her looking youthful.

Honey is used in skin care as a
moisturizer and anti-irritant.

Not only that, honey is known as natural humectant which means it has an ability to attract moisture and hold it.

Another great quality of honey is that it has an amazing shelf life. That means you can preserve it for longer periods of time then any other product.

It's humectant quality makes it good for those people who have oily skin. It keeps your skin moist without oiliness.

Honey is widely used in different facial masks.

You can make your own facial mask at home by using honey as a main ingredient.

Honey and skin care offer a variety of treatment qualities:

Honey as moisturizer:
Due to its humectant qualities, it is used in moisturizers, cleansers, creams, shampoos and conditioners. It does
not only attract water but it retains it in skin. If skin loses its ability to retain moisture then it appears wrinkled and dry. In this way if you use honey it will prevent wrinkles and dryness. It maintains skin suppleness and elasticity.

Honey as antioxidant:
Honey is always famous for its natural antioxidant properties. Antioxidant properties plays an important role in protecting the skin damage form ultraviolet light of sun. Overexposure of skin to the ultra violet light of sun causes skin damage, premature aging and even skin cancer. Other sun screen lotion can cause skin irritation. Now researchers are conducting studies to find out to use more honey in sun screen lotions.

Home Remedies of Honey:
Take 1 peeled cored apple and 1 tablespoon of honey and blend it in food processor until smooth. Apply mixture on face for 15 minutes and wash it off.

Take 1 table spoon of honey, 1 tablespoon of finely ground almonds, 2 tablespoons of dry oatmeal, some lemon juice or yogurt. Apply this paste to your face and massage it gently then rinse it with warm water. It acts as a facial scrub.

For silky and luscious skin, add 1/4 cup of honey to your hot bath water.

Honey as natural remedy for various skin problems:
Honey is very effective to cure much medical disease. It is very effective for burns, pressure sores, surgical incisions, acne, and more. For many centuries it has been used to heal wounds.

Honey and skin care is a great combination!

Honey on Pimples is a Miracle
by: Ogureba

I am Ogureba from Ghana. I was having a big problem with pimples until I started using honey mixed with onion juice on my face before taking a shower in the morning. At night, I rub some of the honey and onion mixture on my face after washing up.
And one very important thing I've learned is to never to use any kind of soap on our faces but rather apply lime juice and rinse with water after a while. Both of these natural skin care strategies REALLY WORK LIKE A MIRACLE!

Honey and Lotion
by: Anonymous

Once a week I mix honey and a bit of lime juice for a facial mask. Leave on for 15 min. and rinse well being careful not to get in the eyes.

I follow up with L'Oreal Hydrafresh toner and then a mix of equal parts baby lotion and Malibu hemp lotion.

The best lotion I have found for the extremely dry Arizona climate is Malibu's Hemp body moisturizer, Tropical Mojito essesnce.

It's cost effective and can be found at WalMart for under 6 dollars for 18oz.

It smells nice and lasts all day and isn't greasy at all.

I love it!

My skin has improved greatly.

Honey Skin Care Tips
by: yas

Here's a quick and easy recipe that leaves your skin so soft and healthy:

1. One spoonful of honey
2. One spoonful of Multhanimetti
3. Little Tomato Juice

Mix all the 3 and apply on your face leave it on for 15 minutes. Wash with cold water.
Now u can get glowing soft skin.

(Note: Multani Mitti is the result of decomposed volcanic ash. It is very absorbent and excellant for drawing excess oils from the skin and stimulating circulation.

Multani mitti is also known as Fullers Earth as in English.)

Milk and Honey
by: Maree

What I've found that also works really well for your skin and hair, is mixing two tablespoons of runny honey (try going for the most natural and preservative free) and two tablespoons of milk.

Mix it together and then massage it in all over your body/face/hair.

Then wash it off in the shower.

It makes your hair so healthy and silky, and your skin feels so smooth and moisterised :)

I'm so happy finding out about the great benefits of honey, it has been my new top skin/health care now!

Also try cinnamon and lemon, they are both great for your skin too and have many benefits.

Honey for Aging Skin
by: Anonymous

Hi Everyone,
I read so much about honey, that I decided to try it myself.

Now I have been using pure, raw, unfiltred organic honey on my face every morning and night and I love it.

I use 1/2 tsp of honey on my face and leave it on for as long as possible, but 15 minutes is the usual time. Then I rinse the honey off with warm water.

My face feels soft, refresh and relax. It is an amazing feeling, I am loving it.

Honey Skin Care From Down Under!
by: Shay

There is a new natural skin care line made with the most potent honey available along with other organic ingredients targeted specifically to treat aging skin.

The honey is called Manuka honey and the skin care line is called Manuka Sea Products.

But it's great for anyone at any age. I think that it is available all over the world now.

Quick Note from Sue:

Thanks Shay! Great tip. . .

We actually have a page on the site about this new natural skin care product line. I agree, it's now at the top of my list as one of the best natural skin care product lines available.

Here's the page with all the information: Honey Organic Beauty Products

You can take olive oil, shea butter, honey and vanilla to lightly scent and make your own body butters, creams, and lotions.

It can be used over pure aloe vera gel to cure almost any skin infections, irritations, exzema or psoriasis.

Honey is a great moisturizer for dry skin
by: Janet P

I've always had very dry skin (except for my face and scalp, which are oily, of course), and have to fight to keep it properly hydrated.

For more than 20 years, I was able to use a great skin lotion made by Revlon, called Dry Skin Relief Moisture Lotion (I think). One of its main ingredients was honey, and it's the best lotion I've ever used for keeping my skin from drying out so much.

Unfortunately, Revlon stopped making this lotion several years ago, and I've been unable to find anything as effective. (I hate it when manufacturers stop making my favorite products!)

If anyone has a suggestion for a replacement, I would appreciate it.

I really like Palmer's Cocoa Butter Lotion (mainly for the pleasant scent), but it just doesn't have as much lasting moisturizing effect.

Now that I live in a desert climate, the problem is even more difficult to keep under control. I'll have to give the coconut oil a try. (It's very good for cooking with, too, and in fact is one of the healthiest cooking oils you can use.)

Thanks, Sue, for creating this fabulous resource!
